St Vinnies CEO Sleepout

Last Thursday night, Nicky Orchard got out of her comfort zone for the annual CEO St Vinnies sleep out. Despite only having a cardboard triangle to cover her face, a wet sleeping bag and having to sleep on the beach, she was thinking of those who experience this each night (which of course is not by choice).

The group of 70 fundraisers braved the rain and raised over $125,000 for the Sunshine Coast region of the St Vincent de Paul Society. “The Vinnie’s community sleep out is such an important local event as it not only builds awareness of the homelessness within our society, but also raises essential funds for services that assist disadvantaged members of our community.” Sunshine Coast Business Council (SCBC) chair Ms Zubrinich said.

St Vincent de Paul Society Northern Diocesan President Ian Laherty said he was delighted that close to 700 people had already donated to the cause with donations still coming in after the event.

If you would like to contribute to this great cause, donations are still being accepted at www.communitysleepout.org.au
